Privacy Policy

Information we collect

• Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address to sign you in (via a one-time code). You can use core features without an account.
• Receipts. When you scan or upload a receipt, we collect the photo and the information extracted from it — merchant, line items, prices, tax, and tip.
• People you split with. Names you enter, and any Venmo usernames you choose to add, so you can reuse them and send payment requests.
• Split activity. Records of your splits — who was assigned what and amounts owed — to show your history and balances (for signed-in users).
• Technical information. Standard data our hosting and infrastructure providers process to operate the service (e.g., log data). We do not use advertising trackers.
• Usage analytics. Anonymous page-view statistics and basic feature-usage events (e.g., that a scan or split was completed) to understand how the app is used and improve it. These contain no receipt contents, names, or payment details.

How we use your information

• To provide core features: scanning, itemizing, splitting, and payment requests.
• To save your people, Venmo handles, and history so you don't re-enter them.
• To sign you in and secure your account.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show ads.

How we share your information

We share data only with the third-party providers that power the app, who process it on our behalf to run the service:

• AWS Textract and Anthropic Claude — receipt images are sent to extract the itemized details (OCR).
• Supabase — stores your account, receipt images, and split data (database, file storage, authentication).
• Resend — sends your sign-in code emails and developer notifications.
• Vercel — hosts and serves the application.

When a scan fails, or when you report a scan as incorrect, the receipt image and scan results may be reviewed by the developer to diagnose and improve scanning. These diagnostic records are deleted after review.

We may also disclose information if required by law.

Payments

SuperSplit does not process payments or handle money. "Request on Venmo" buttons simply open Venmo with details pre-filled; any payment happens entirely within Venmo, subject to Venmo's own terms and privacy policy.

Sharing splits with others

If you share a split link, the people you invite can see the receipt's items and enter their name (and optionally their Venmo username) to claim items. Information they enter is associated with that split.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can delete your saved people anytime in the app. To delete your account and associated data, contact us and we'll remove it.

Your rights and choices

• Use without an account. You can scan and split bills anonymously; saved history and people require an account.
• Access and deletion. You can edit or delete your saved people in the app. For access to or deletion of your other data (including your account), email us.
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data (such as under GDPR or CCPA). Contact us to exercise them.

Security

We use reputable infrastructure providers and reasonable measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Children

SuperSplit is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the effective date above and, for significant changes, take reasonable steps to let you know.
